Chitai work is a traditional craft from Rajasthan, renowned for its intricate hand-engraved detailing. Using chisels, gravers, and tiny hammers, artisans carve motifs inspired by floral vines, peacocks, paisleys, geometric borders, and tribal patterns. Once engraved, the designs are oxidized to create contrast and depth, giving chitai jewelry its signature rustic yet regal appeal. Originally practiced exclusively on pure silver, the technique is today also applied to brass, making the craft more accessible while preserving its artistry.
